California Higher Education Basic Needs Alliance (CHEBNA) 2024 Summit

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the California Higher Education Basic Needs Alliance (CHEBNA) 2024 Summit! The CHEBNA 2024 Summit Planning Committee was made up of campus leaders from all three segments and supported by basic needs leads at each of the systemwide offices. This year’s summit was held on February 21-22, 2024 at the Sacramento Convention Center.

This event brought together communities from California and across the country. Over 1,200 students & campus leaders from all three segments, state and federal government representatives, community based organizations, foundations, and advocacy organizations engaged in student success and advancing basic needs for all came together for this timely Summit.

Honoring the CHEBNA legacy

In September 2016, the three public segments of higher education in the state of California gathered at Fresno State after a year of planning. At this meeting, the three segments voted to establish the California Higher Education Basic Needs Alliance (CHEBNA) to inform service interventions, research and assessment, as well as informing policy shaping best practices for public higher education across the state.

In February 2020, the first CHEBNA Summit was convened in Orange County with over 700 community members. It was a two-day gathering of segment, campus, student, government, and community organization leaders dedicated to improving student basic needs.

And now, it’s with great pleasure and gratitude to add CHEBNA 2024 Sacramento, to the list. Thank you to everyone who participated!
